Chapter VI of the EU Data Act has applied since 12 September 2025 and covers data processing services — SaaS included. It requires a provider to publish, in plain terms, what a customer can take with them, how, how quickly, and at what cost.

Most of it we would have done anyway. A contact database you cannot leave is a hostage, not a product, and "your data exports clean — always" is on the pricing section of our own home page. This page is the version a lawyer can check.

Everything you put in, plus the structure we built around it. Nothing is held back as a retention lever.

Exports run the same way whether you are staying or leaving. There is no separate "cancellation export" flow with different limits, and no cooling-off step that has to be survived before the button works.

CSV for spreadsheets and for import into any other CRM. JSON for structured migration, preserving nested values and custom fields. vCard for address books and mail clients.

• +Exports are UTF-8 encoded, with a header row naming every field.
• +Identifiers are stable, so a record exported twice matches itself in the destination system.
• +Enrichment attributes are exported as ordinary fields, not as a locked proprietary blob.
• +Merge history exports as the surviving record plus the snapshot that lets you reconstruct what was merged.

We publish no proprietary interchange format and we do not obfuscate exports to make migration painful. If a destination system needs a shape we do not emit, tell us at support@epafi.app — that is a gap worth closing.

Small exports complete immediately in the browser. Large exports are queued to a background worker and delivered as a downloadable artifact; you are notified when it is ready. Generated export files expire after seven days under the current application setting, and you can regenerate any of them at will.

The Data Act sets a maximum 30-day transitional period for switching, extendable only where technically unfeasible. Nothing in Epafi requires that long. Cancelling a subscription does not close the account: it ends billing and returns you to the free plan, so you keep signing in and exporting for as long as you want. Export before you delete, not before you cancel.

Epafi charges nothing for switching, exporting, or porting your data. Not a reduced fee, not an egress charge, not a professional-services line item. Zero, today.

The Data Act permits reduced switching charges until 12 January 2027, after which all switching charges must be eliminated. We are not using that window. Exports are counted against your plan’s ordinary usage limits in the same way any other operation is, and an export you run to leave is never counted differently from one you run to stay.

Epafi holds no data of yours that is only reachable through us. There is no lock-in mechanism to disable, because there is none to begin with.
